Architecture as  "environment"

Will the discipline of ecology and the necessity of protection environment lead to a transformation of architecture in the 21st century? In this book, Reyner Banham advocates for the reconciliation of architecture and environment. He raises this question from a technological and aesthetic point of view. The author takes as the starting point for his analysis the idea that architecture is a place of experimentation and acquired experience rather than the simple construction of monuments. In his view, what matters are not individual buildings considered separately but the context, the environment and the relationship between skin and networks. This original ecological approach to architecture thought of as environment, developed by the Archigram group in the 1960s, now serves as a conceptual and aesthetic reference for many architects, artists and theoreticians.
