At
first: a white book, a cover on which subsists a mark,
a name, Loris Gréaud - the artist. A title, "EnextenD",
stretches out on it like a distorted palindrome, leading
us towards an endless book… Atypical because of its inverted
pagination, the book plunges the reader into a new kind
of aesthetic experiment. A great number of cross-references
opens out onto infinite possibilities of cross-reading,
and web-links unfurl a deferred time, a deferred space.
The reader becomes the actor of a performance created
by the artist around numerous authors and sensory experiments.
Following certain oral traditions with their varying and
multiple narratives, "EndextenD" leaves it to its reader
or co-producer of a unique text: the course of the narrative
is never set in a definite direction. At any time it can
branch off into boundless variants, into unlimited twists
and turns.
Co-founder of a production and post-production company,
Loris Gréaud has developed a passion for cinema. From
the sound to the picture, he seizes the production logics,
combining the technical dimension of the first cinema
machines with the most up-to-date scientific and technological
stakes. Thus, these experiments make up hybrid and unsettled
spaces where the identity of the visitor-actor-spectator-reader
is constantly brought into play. This dissemination of
identities is diffused as a questioning of the narrative
process in which fiction and perception merge. Like Byron
Gysin's "dream machines", "EndextenD" is a book designed
to be read with one's eyes shut.
