Gianni
Pettena was in the late 1960s one of the leading figures
of "radical architecture", a movement born in Italy which
gathered numerous outstanding personalities (from Ettore
Sottsass Jr to Alessandro Mendini to Superstudio, Archizoom
Associati, etc.).
This movement intended to carry out "a radical reform
of the whole architectural discipline". Gianni Pettena
defines himself as an "anarchitect". As an artist who
resorted to the language of architecture, and as an architect
who took over the artistic logics, Pettena developed an
experimental work at the junction of conceptual art and
Land art, exploring the relationship between nature and
architecture.
